Leon is a young curious leopard who lives with his mom and older sister in Sub-Sahara Africa. He is anxious to know how the world around home works, but his family feels he is too young to understand. When curiosity and courage helps remove the barriers of preconceived notions, Leon and a young bird quickly become friends. Despite being forbidden by their parents, their new friendship allows them to embark upon a journey that ultimately redefines the meaning of unity.
This book, written by my 10yr old son and I, helps address the issues and long-term trauma caused by bullying, prejudice, discrimination, racism, and just being “different”. Our aim is to engage the youth with real-world topics in a way they can understand them. This way, the discrepancies of our forefathers won’t saturate the hearts of the next generation.
